The Marine Park is sectioned off into three parts; saguenay fjord, the upper estuary, and the lower estuary. The fjord is a U shape valley with an abrupt and opposing rock face, it was carved by glaciers 18 thousand years ago.
The Saguenay fjord is a glacier valley filled with water with tides that can rise up to 6 meters and in some areas of the the Saguenay river it is 275m deep. It is also one of the rare fjords that releases its waters to estuary not an ocean.
The symbiotic relationship between human and marine animal there is commensalism, as the humans benefit and the animals there don't get harmed and they don't benefit
Cold salt water is more in the depths of the lake while warmer fresh water from lake St. Jean is on the surface.
The fjord is an ecosystem with very little phytoplankton. Since they are much more abundant in salt water the layer of fresh water at the surface limits their growth.
