Park Guidelines

-If going fishing a permit is required. They are available at all mountain parks visitor centers

-the carrying or use of chainsaws is restricted to people with licences

-Cannot use horse drawn vehicles in backcountry

-The carrying or transport of firearms is prohibited in Banff national park backcountry

-Dogs must be kept on leash at all times

Before going on an overnight horse trip in the park you must purchase the following...

-Grazing permit (only available at Banff visitor centre)

-Wilderness pass (available at all visitor centres)

-Park entrance pass (available at all park visitor centers or online

-Private horse groups may reserve trips up to three months in advance on a first come first serve basis

The following info. is required for the permit...

-Number of horses and riders

-Number of days you wish to stay at each grazing site

-Vehicle license plate number

 -Your annual wilderness pass number if you have one
